Mr. Peck was retained by a large exchange company who recently had a lead application developer quit and flee the country to China. It was suspected that the individual had stolen the source code for the application the company used for trading within the New York Stock Exchange. This intellectual property was very sensitive and would cause grave damage if it fell into the hands of a competing company.
Mr. Peck forensically acquired the developer’s system and created hash values of the source code. An enterprise search took several days but ultimately led to identifying the location of the source code cache, along with the method and path of exfiltration. This evidence led back to the developer and criminal charges being filed.
